Cool Batik Background

on April 23, 2012

I used wax paper to resist the ink for this cool batik looking background.

Wax Paper Resist

This beautiful background was a result of crumpling the wax paper. It really compliments the giraffe theme.

This one used the Finial Press embossing folder. Giving it a gorgeous leathery feel.

Cut a piece of wax at least ¼” larger than your cardstock. Then crumple it by rolling it in a tight ball. (The tighter the better). Then I used two pieces of cardstock with the wax paper sandwiched between them and ironed using dry heat only (DO NOT USE STEAM or have water in your iron.)
Then take your classic ink pad and rub the entire surface (I did it in a circular motion). Then take a paper towel and wipe off excess ink. That’s it! I did this technique in a class and they were done in no time.
When using an embossing folder, simply insert the wax paper in the EF using the tab indicated on big shot. I added a cardstock shim on top of the EF for a deeper emboss, then ironed the wax paper between two pieces of cardstock. I also plan to use this technique for a 12×12” scrapbook page for an Animal Kingdom layout.
Be sure to try different colors and other embossing folders, (Pear Pizzazz looked great also). TFL
